Hi all...blog active now...just had to start posting about this dream I had. The short version is that I first did Ironman Hawaii as a 25 year-old in 1985. Not long ago, I experienced an incredibly realistic dream that I toted the Hawaii starting line as a 50 year-old (4 years hence)...on the 25th anniversary of my race there.
The race is a totally different animal now...very tough to qualify...and to be quite honest, my athletic strengths are not what they used to be and were never swimming, cycling, and running. My best sport was tennis as a kid, with basketball a distant second.
I completed the Hawaiian Ironman in 12 hours and 30 minutes in 1985. I finished Ironman Florida in 2001 as a 41 year-old and was in much better shape than when I was 25. Unfortunately an injury occured during the race that reduced me to hobbling most of the run...but hey, that's the breaks.
Anyways, let's see what happens. I am totally out of shape...relatively speaking...so will begin something resembling training today.
I wonder...

Thanks man...we'll do it...you're coming along great! I know I need to do some remedial work but I've done it before...I will most likely focus on LP as my q-effort in 2010...may try the Espirit as a "tune-up" in 2009...we'll see...
